Overview

We are seeking a motivated and creative intern to join our team and support wellness initiatives. This role involves conducting regular health check-in calls with drivers on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, depending on need. The ideal candidate is passionate about employee engagement and eager to develop new programs and ideas that promote well-being. Additionally, the intern will help coordinate and lead activities for associates and their immediate family members, with a focus on supporting personal fitness and overall wellness needs by performing the following:

Responsibilities

·         Performs regular health check-in calls with drivers and associates;

·         Setting up appointment for work-out times with current associates and their immediate family members;

·         Conducting various fitness classes as needed;

·         Gives encouragement to associates in order to motivate them to meet their goals;

·         Provides guidance and direction with individual workouts;

·         Maintains a workout log for each appointment;

·         Provides updated reading material for new fitness trends;

·         Stays current on new fitness trends and possible group classes;

·         Works with the team to come up with numerous fitness challenges and competitions;

·         Helps walk-ins with their questions or training needs;

·         Helps maintain basketball court, cardio equipment, and weight room equipment by performing minor maintenance, cleaning and sanitizing;

·         Writing up a workout plan if requested;

·         Teaching safety and proper form when training someone in the fitness center.

 

Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Knowledge

Basic knowledge of the trucking/transportation industry is desirable.

 

Abilities

Must have a strong work history and flexible schedule with the ability to work early mornings and evenings. Basic computer skills required, including knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.

 

Experience, Education, and Training

High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates must be in the process of becoming a certified personal trainer (see Licensing/Certification section below).

 

Physical Requirements

This position requires demonstration of various fitness techniques. Candidates must be able to perform same movements as the people being trained. Consistent walking, running, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing and stretching required. Candidate must be able to lift and carry 45lbs, pull 15lbs, and push variable weight dependent on body weight (push-ups, etc.).

 

Working Environment

Both indoor and outdoor working environment with varying weather conditions.

 

Licensing/Certification

Already has or is working toward a nationally recognized personal training certification.

(NASM, NSCA, ASCM)

 

Miscellaneous Requirements:

Candidate must be able to pass a job specific post-offer physical prior to beginning employment with Prime, Inc.

 

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

PRIME will provide protective equipment (“PPE”) as necessary to its associates in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.132(a).  PRIME provides safe working conditions that are fully compliant with all applicable OSHA workplace regulations as it respects an associate’s exposure to chemical, mechanical, or other potential workplace hazards or impairing conditions that could compromise the integrity of the associate’s well-being, to include eyes, extremities, face, head, or respiratory system. PRIME associates must fully adhere to all PRIME PPE policies at all times.  Any PRIME associate, who refuses to fully abide by these mandatory PPE policies, and related safety measures, may be subject to the appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination.  All required personal protective equipment will be provided by PRIME to each associate at no cost to the associate.

Prime at all times ensures a safe work environment, as statutorily required by Section 5 of the OSH Act of 1970.   In so doing, Prime provides to all employees working conditions that are free of those hazards likely to inflict serious injury or death upon them.   In accordance with 29 U.S.C. 673, Prime fully and timely reports to OSHA, and those affiliated agencies, any workplace accident that is statutorily defined as “reportable.”    Prime also fosters a workplace that allows for employees to freely, independently, and without the fear of retaliation, report the following:  1) any work place hazards, 2) the need for workplace hazard correction, or 3) any reportable workplace injuries.

 

As a condition of employment, all PRIME employees must comply with PRIME’s OHSA safety training and any related company rules, protocols, and programs.  PRIME’s OSHA safety program and policies are designed to ensure the safety of all PRIME employees.  PRIME employees are at all times required to dutifully comply with any and all of PRIME’s OHSA safety requirements throughout the duration of their employ at PRIME. The failure of any employee to abide by the safety requirements stated in this paragraph may subject the employee to the appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination. 

 

Modified Task Requirements/Changed Circumstances

All Prime employees are required to fully and continuously satisfy his or her job description/required qualifications at all times.  In the event that the employee’s job description and responsibilities are modified due to changed circumstances that respect the employee’s responsibilities and/or related performance tasks, the employee will be notified by his or her supervisor of any such changes.  The employee should immediately contact Prime’s Human Resources Department in the event that any of changed responsibilities and/or tasks create an undue burden or make the safe and lawful performance of those tasks impracticable or otherwise too difficult to successfully perform. By providing signature to this initially-executed job description profile, the employee acknowledges that any changed responsibilities and/or related performance tasks will be fully and continuously adhered to in combination with, and furtherance of, the provisions agreed to herein.
