The assistant superintendent plays a pivotal role in ensuring project activities align with safety, quality, and compliance standards.  Additional responsibilities include risk management, cost control, and the use of modern technologies such as Procore and Bluebeam to streamline project Workflows.  Have you been looking for a team that is encouraging & driven to be the best? Responsibilities

  • Daily Project Management: Assist in managing construction activities, including scheduling, procurement, and subcontractor coordination to ensure projects meet timelines and budgets. Utilize Procore Management Tools to manage project workflows and documentation, ensuring all project-related documents are current, accurate, and accessible.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Identify and mitigate project risks early in the lifecycle. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and third-party partners. Attend meetings with clients and architects to discuss project progress and resolve design issues.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Develop and manage detailed project schedules using 3-week look-ahead tools. Coordinate team activities to ensure deadlines are met across all trades.
  • Safety Leadership: Conduct safety inspections, submit safety reports, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including SWPPP and ADA requirements. Promote safety through proactive leadership and adherence to safety standards.
  • Team Leadership & Mentoring: Supervise and mentor assigned project staff, including Carpenter Forman, Laborers and self-perform employees. Lead weekly subcontractor and team meetings to maintain smooth project execution.
  • Quality Control: Monitor on-site work to ensure it meets project specifications and collaborate with the Project Manager to address issues. Maintain proper documentation throughout the project.
  • Project Closeout: Assist with punch-list inspections, commissioning, and final turnover activities. Ensure that accurate as-built drawings are submitted in both hard and electronic formats.
  • Asset Management: Manage project assets, vehicles, equipment, and materials. Ensure safe and effective use of resources on-site.

Qualifications

Qualifications Required:

Experience:
Minimum of 2+ years in commercial construction as an Assistant Superintendent, Field Engineer, or similar position.

 

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel). Familiarity with BIM and Apple mobility devices and applications is preferred.

 

Certifications:
OSHA 10/30-hour certification Preferred; First Aid/CPR certification preferred.  Knowledge of sustainable construction practices is a plus.

 

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

 

Leadership & Communication:
Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to mediate conflicts and effectively manage a diverse team of subcontractors and site personnel.

 

Working Environment:

Assistant Superintendents will work primarily on-site at project locations but will also have desk duties.

 

Physical Requirements:

Standing and Walking: 75%
Sitting and Desk Work: 25%
Occasional lifting of materials and equipment.
