Responsibilities

Position will involve maintenance of outside grounds including maintenance of lawns, shrubs, irrigation system, flower beds, and lawn equipment; and general building/maintenance repairs by performing the following duties:

  • Mow, edge, and fertilize lawns;
  • Weed and mulch landscapes;
  • Trim hedges, shrubs, and small trees;
  • Remove dead, damaged or unwated trees;
  • Seasonal work may include but is not limited to Christmas lights, washing windows, snow removal, salting sidewalks and/or pavement, mowing, trimming and yard waste removal;
  • May be required to climb and work off of a ladder;
  • Building maintenance repairs duties to include: painting, sheetrock repairs, floor and ceiling repairs, Building PM tasks, and assisting Facility Maintenance Tech as needed on other jobs.

Performs related work as required.

Qualifications

Knowledge

Grounds and building maintenance knowledge is a plus. Also understanding how to use and operate lawn care equipment is required. Painting, sheetrock, and general building maintenance knowledge and experience is a plus.

 

Abilities

Must have a strong work history. The work can be repetitive and physically demanding. Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor and co-workers. Must be able to work independently and also part of a team environment.

 

Experience, Education, and Training

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Physical Requirements

This position requires constant standing, walking, forward reaching, pedal control and grasping; frequent head turning, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, handling, climbing and reaching. Candidate must be able to lift and carry 50lbs and also push and pull a push mower seasonally.

 

Working Environment

Both indoor and outdoor working environment with exposure to varying weather conditions and chemical odors.

 

Licensing/Certification

Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to and from work, must be able to operate a forklift.
