Responsibilities

The Assistant Banquet Manager is responsible for supporting the Banquet Manager by overseeing all aspects of a banquet or event, including set-up, food preparation, serving and cleanup.

 

The Assistant Banquet Manager is expected to be available nights, weekends and holidays, when many of the banquet events take place.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in overseeing the daily operations and administrative responsibilities of the Banquet department.
  • Greets on-site contact for assigned event(s) and stays in contact through the event(s).
  • Knowledgeable of the menu for each function served and can explain the major ingredients and preparation methods for each item to be served.
  • Ensures all Banquet functions exceed the client’s expectations in accordance with the BEO.
  • Manages employees during the shift and ensures appropriate professional standards of behavior, work standards, productivity, practices and customer care are enforced.
  • Assumes the duties and responsibilities of the Banquet Manager in his/her absence.
  • Responsible for all long and short term planning and day to day operations of the Banquet department.
  • Provides the client with accurate final billing at end of function and inputs payment into computer software.
  • Provides pre-function briefing and table assignments to all Banquet staff.
  • Assists in the setup, breakdown, and storage of Banquet furniture, tables, chairs, equipment, supplies, audio visual, props, staging, dance floor, pipe and drape, portable bars, and any other related items.
  • Ensures Food & Beverage customer service standards are attained.
  • Attends BEO and F&B meetings.
  • Maintains a positive teamwork environment.
  • Trains employees in designated areas and monitors progress
  • Works closely with the Banquet Manager and all other Hotel Management.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Must have management and/or supervisory experience in Banquets, Catering, or Food & Beverage.
  • Hospitality Management degree preferred.
  • Excellent communication, guest service and time management skills
  • Must be able to organize, plan ahead and manage workload.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and multi-tasked environment.
  • Must have a positive and professional upbeat personality with a desire to deliver outstanding customer service to our guests.
  • Bartending experience preferred
  • Audio Visual experience preferred
  • Must be flexible regarding scheduling as it is based on business demands

 

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires constant standing and walking. Frequent bending, squatting, handling and grasping. Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs. Pushing and pulling and average weight of 97lbs
