Responsibilities

 

Responsibilities & Abilities

The Body Shop Manager leads, assigns work, and mentors technicians under their direction. They are responsible for the shop's financial and operational performance. The Manager has extensive industry expertise, understands all aspects of the repair process, and is committed to providing excellent customer service. The Manager creates an environment that promotes growth and development opportunities for all associates.  The Manager is responsible for conducting interviews with potential employees, processing hire/termination requests, making payroll/salary modifications, and creating work schedules. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Ensure the department has the right talent in place by recognizing performance gaps due to staffing needs
  • Participate in the recruiting and hiring process by conducting a thorough interview with prospective associates to determine best applicant based on skills, knowledge, and abilities in relation to the job needed.
  • Coach and develop associates for future growth in the company
  • Lead the associates in production goals by setting direction to maximize sales and profitability targets
  • Oversee the financial and administrative duties of their shop location
  • Provide outstanding customer service and hold associates accountable for the same behavior
  • Educate and train body shop associates and customers about the collision repair process according to the standards established by I-CAR and OE vehicle manufacturer. This includes insurance repair processing, payment procedures, repair and refinish techniques, part options and approximate repair time.
  • Reinforce the understanding of technical knowledge and tools with their associates.
  • Oversee the daily processes associated with shop management based on company policies by holding themselves and shop associates accountable to complete the tasks identified in the estimating process.
  • Measures quality standards by inspecting both in-process repairs and pre-delivered repairs
  • Excel in a competitive environment while maintaining positive morale throughout the shop
  • Ensures safety and compliance regulations are adhered to according to company standards
  • Communicates with other terminal managers and the leasing department to develop a workflow of wrecks, and open units coming through the body shops
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and setup cost controls
  • Supervise the inventory process to guarantee maximum workflow productivity

Qualifications

 

 

Physical Requirements

Candidate must be able to pass a pulmonary fit test prior to being hired. Must be able to lift and carry 65lbs and pull and push 20lbs. Position requires constant standing, forward reaching, grasping and finger manipulations. Must wear safety glasses and respirator as required.

 

Experience, Education, and Training

  • Three to five years of body shop building/painting experience preferred
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience preferred
  • One or more years of AS/400 experience preferred
  • Use and knowledge of Axalta paint products preferred

 

Work Schedule

  • Mon – Fri 7am – 5pm, Minimum 50 hours per week
  • Afterhours/weekends as needed
  • Travel as needed
