    Responsibilities

    Prime, Inc. is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated individual to join our Axillary Power Unit (APU) team to set up and operate variety of machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate or repair machine tools and maintain industrial machines by performing the following duties:

     

    • Observes and listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunction and determine need for adjustment or repair
    • Raises vehicle, with hydraulic jack or hoist, to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle. 
    • Dismantles machine or equipment or examine parts for defect or to remove defective part.
    • Replaces defective part with new part or repairs/reproduces part from various kinds of metal stock.
    • Relines and adjusts brakes, aligns front end, repairs or replaces shock absorbers, and solders leaks in radiator.
    • Assembles and tests machine to verify correction of malfunction.
    • Maintains and lubricates machine tools and equipment.
    • Cleans tools and working area.
    • Performs other routine duties

     

    Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

    Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

     

    Knowledge

    Mechanical experience is a plus.

     

    Abilities

    Must have a strong work history. Flexible schedule with the ability to work nights and weekends required. Candidate must be able to acquire own basic hand tools and toolbox by the end of the training period (approximately 60 to 90 days).

     

    Experience, Education, and Training

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must have a good work history, flexible schedule, and the ability to work nights and weekends.  Basic computer skills required. 

     

    Physical Requirements

    This position requires constant handling, and forward reaching; frequent standing, head turning, kneeling, trunk bending, side reaching, pinching and occasional climbing. Candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 66lbs and push and pull 45lbs. Steel toed footwear, and safety glasses are required in the shop.

     

    Working Environment

    Both indoor and outdoor working environment with exposure to varying weather conditions and chemical odors. Applicants  for the position understand and acknowledge that PRIME implements in active practice a hearing conservation  program that is fully aligned with the prescribed  OSHA and related regulatory requirements (as defined in 29 CFR 1910.95).

     

    Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
    PRIME will provide protective equipment (“PPE”) as necessary to its associates in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.132(a). PRIME provides safe working conditions that are fully compliant with all applicable OSHA workplace regulations as it respects an associate’s exposure to chemical, mechanical, or other potential workplace hazards or impairing conditions that could compromise the integrity of the associate’s well-being, to include eyes, extremities, face, head, or respiratory system. PRIME associates must fully adhere to all PRIME PPE policies at all times. Any PRIME associate, who refuses to fully abide by these mandatory PPE policies, and related safety measures, may be subject to the appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including termination. All required personal protective equipment will be provided by PRIME to each associate at no cost to the associate.

     

    Licensing/Certification

    Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation to and from work.

     

    Miscellaneous Requirements

    Candidate must be able to pass a job specific post-offer physical prior to beginning employment with Prime, Inc.
