Responsibilities

Prime, Inc. is looking for a dedicated, customer-oriented Receptionist/Switchboard Attendant. This position is often the first point of contact for our company by both visitors and callers.

 

The ideal candidate should have an approachable and friendly demeanor while also being perceptive and attentive. They should be able to manage complaints, provide accurate information, and take initiative to seek answers or help when needed. 

 

  • Handles all incoming calls on a high volume switchboard.
  • Quickly and accurately identifies where calls need to go, and connects the caller to the appropriate associate or department.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor while helping aggrieved callers connect to a live person.
  • Answers general questions about the organization and provides callers with address, directions, and other information.
  • Works in conjunction with security personnel to monitor visitor access, welcome on-site visitors, and announce visitors to the appropriate associate or department.
  • Helps direct visitors and new associates to their destination on campus.
  • Updates boardroom calendars as needed and maintains the switchboard reference database.
  • Performs miscellaneous work for other departments (auditing invoices, alphabetizing, sorting, processing reports, etc.)
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.

 

Knowledge

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and general knowledge of office equipment required. Basic knowledge of the trucking/transportation industry preferred.

 

Abilities

Strong organizational, computer, problem solving, and customer service skills required. Accurate typing up to 40 WPM. Multitasking and a flexible schedule required. Some weekend work will be necessary for this position.

 

Experience, Education, and Training

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year related experience and/or training preferred. Experience with switchboards and/or multi-line phone systems preferred. 

 

Physical Requirements

Must be able to sit for long periods of time.

 

Working Environment

Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general office environment.

 

Licensing/Certification

None required.
