The Intermodal Operations Coordinator is responsible for handling all carrier interfacing including logistics planning, and service oversight by performing the following duties:


  • The schedule for this position will be M-F 2pm-12am and will include one holiday per year.
  • Handle daily load activities by conversing with customers, carriers, railroads, shippers and receivers ensuring that customer expectations are met.
  • Monitor trailer movement activities, provide early detection of potential service interruptions and communicate accordingly.
  • Address all load problems and present resolution in a timely manner.
  • Submit rail billing to railroads.
  • Equipment management focused on utilization and cost avoidance with Prime trailers.
  • Real time input of pickup and delivery information in the Intermodal Board
  • Establish and maintain carrier relationships to ensure success in meeting customer's shipping needs
  • Assist with intermodal volume growth and best in class intermodal service.
  • Build and maintain relationships with carriers, railroads, and customers
  • Document processing, sending receiving imaging documents for customer and carriers
  • Work interactively within a Team to maximize overall performance
  • Conduct all activities in alignment with company's core values
  • Resolving conflicts and problems and updating customers on status
  • Meeting performance measurements for productivity and service delivery.
  • Utilize an existing network of dray partners to move freight around a group of rail ramps
  • Confirm pickup and delivery appointments
  • Use a set of tracking and tracing tools in order to provide the best customer service possible



Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.



Basic knowledge of the trucking/transportation industry preferred.



Strong organizational, computer, and customer service skills required. Accurate typing up to 40 WPM.  Multitasking and a flexible schedule required.  Some weekend work will be necessary for this position.


Experience, Education, and Training

A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University in a Business or related field is preferred; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Physical Requirements

This position requires being able to sit and remain focused and motivated for long periods of time. Being able to multitask between the computer, phone, and different projects is required.


Working Environment

Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general office environment. Call volume can be heavy at times.
