Responsibilities

The Banquet Captain directly supervises catered events. This includes the setup, execution and tear-down of all banquet and banquet related events. The Banquet Captain stays in contact with the on-site contact through the event to ensure the highest level of guest satisfaction.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates all aspects of the room/facilities setup and Food & Beverage service in accordance with the BEO (Banquet Event Order).
  • Assists in the setup of all Audio/Visual equipment.
  • Assists in managing the banquet servers, bartenders, setup team and housekeeper.
  • Conducts lineup with the staff at the start of each event. Inspects uniforms, reviews assignments, and steps of service for each event.
  • Greets on-site contact for assigned event(s) and stays in contact through the event(s).
  • Knowledgeable of the menu for each function served and can explain the major ingredients and preparation methods for each item to be served.
  • Responsible for the training of all new Banquet associates.
  • Resolves guest complaints within scope of authority, otherwise refers the matter to the Assistant Banquet Manager/ Banquet Manager.
  • Attends weekly BEO meeting.
  • Enforces hotel policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Must have management and/or supervisory experience
  • Excellent communication, guest service and time management skills
  • Must be able to organize, plan ahead and manage workload
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and multi-tasked environment
  • Must have a positive and professional upbeat personality with a desire to deliver outstanding customer service to our guests
  • Must be dependable and energetic
  • Must have previous restaurant and/or banquet related experience
  • Bartending experience preferred
  • Audio Visual experience preferred
  • Must be flexible regarding scheduling as it is based on business demands

 

Physical Requirements:

  • This position requires constant standing and walking. Frequent bending, squatting, handling and grasping. Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs. Pushing and pulling and average weight of 97lbs. Candidate must be able to pass a job specific post-offer physical prior to beginning employement with Oasis Hotel.
